Composer
Commission me to write a new piece! Commissioning a composer is the most direct way to nurture new music and bring something special into the world. I have written for many chamber ensembles including string quartets, pierrot ensemble, choirs, and more! I can write for middle and high school-aged ensembles, college ensembles, and professional performers.
When I’m working on a new piece, I meet with the performers and/or artistic directors to learn about those performers’ unique skills and sound, and tailor my writing to ensure it’s something that will make that ensemble shine. Adapting other people’s concepts, stories, and wishes into my own musical voice is part of what makes a commission a rewarding creative experience, for everyone involved. I’ve written someone’s love story, woven together the stories of someone’s queer friends, realized less popular instrumental pairings (like my piece for mezzo and trumpet), incorporated news clips and current events into the music, and more!
I can also incorporate other performance mediums into the commission. In previous projects, I’ve woven together electronics, dance, spoken word, ritual, and drag.

Teacher
I teach piano and music lessons (virtual or in-person, currently located in Fort Collins, Colorado). I am a composer and classically trained pianist with 18 years of practice in many genres and performance spaces. I can teach students any age, and am happy to work with many levels, including shy beginners!
I can help you compose & improvise, realize chord progressions, arrange pop tunes, notate music & write electronic music, create with softwares such as Finale, Logic, Audacity, GarageBand, and more.
Music can help you feel powerful and can just be plain fun! Music has been such a solace to me over the years, and I hope I can help you nurture that creative & supportive flame within you.
